Comments that don't drag you down

Five filter levels against aggressive language, toxic comments, and ragebait. The analysis runs exclusively on your device, no comment is ever transmitted anywhere.

What Noise Guard actually does

Noise Guard detects, based on local, linguistic patterns, whether a comment is aggressive, toxic, or designed for provocation (ragebait). You choose the level:

Off

Nothing gets filtered.

Light

Only clearly toxic comments or direct attacks.

Smart

Toxic and aggressive, balanced (default).

Strong

Additionally filters provocative comments.

Gentle

Prioritizes constructive contributions, hides the rest.

Hidden comments don't disappear permanently: a "Show anyway" button always remains. Anyone who shows the same term anyway three times gets Noise Guard's classification loosened for that specific term, traceable and reversible at any time.

The reason behind it

Why aggressive comments are so effective

Comment sections are designed to generate reactions. Platforms benefit when people argue: more reactions mean more time on the site. A single aggressive comment can pull an entire discussion in a certain direction, regardless of whether it contributes anything substantive.

Psychologically, this works through a simple mechanism: negative, emotionally charged language draws more attention than neutral language. The brain reacts more strongly to perceived threat or conflict than to agreement. Anyone reading a comment section dominated by a toxic tone often unconsciously adopts that tone, even when they didn't actually want to.

Noise Guard doesn't interrupt this mechanism by censoring opinions, but by removing particularly aggressive phrasing from direct view, while the rest of the discussion remains fully intact.

Trust

Why you can trust Noise Guard with this

  • The analysis uses local, heuristic rules, not a cloud AI.
  • No comment text ever leaves your device.
  • The classification is honestly limited: Noise Guard can miss context and says so itself, instead of presenting itself as infallible.
  • Every decision is traceable via a "Why?" button, no black box.
